Sony Music Publishing Scores Ninth Consecutive Publisher of the Year Win at SESAC’s 2024 Latina Music Awards

Sony Music Publishing was recognized as the Pop/Latin Rhythm Publisher of the Year at SESAC’s annual Latina Music Awards, held on June 26 at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles. The award marked SMP Latin’s ninth consecutive Publisher of the Year win, an unprecedented SESAC milestone for the company.

SMP songwriters were among the evening’s top winners, with Manuel Turizo and Julian Turizo both crowned as SESAC’s Pop/Latin Rhythm Songwriters of the Year in recognition of their work on hits including “El Merengue” by Manuel Turizo and Marshmello, which also took home this year’s Pop/Latin Rhythm Song of the Year award.

Sony Music Publishing honorees also included Edén Muñoz, who won multiple awards for top performing tracks like “Como Quieras Quiero,” as well as Nicky Jam and LennyTavárez, who were honored for songs including “Calor” and Maluma’s “Coco Loco,” respectively.

Upon accepting the Publisher of the Year award, Sony Music Publishing President & CEO, Latin America and U.S. Latin Jorge Mejia said, “Being here tonight is a result of consistently showing up. Our fantastic Latin team now on this stage consistently shows up for the songwriters we represent.

Most importantly, this honor is a direct result of you, the songwriters in the room, showing up to write songs day after day, without knowing whether they will be a hit or not, without knowing if they will connect or not, but showing up and writing anyway, because that is what you do – it is what you are meant to do. We are humbled by your dedication, your trust and your confidence in us. As long as you keep showing up, so will we.”
