SUMC Conference Co-Chairs Tony Baraka & Marq Dean are putting the final touches of their aggressive marketing campaign promoting the 10th Annual SUMC. According to SUMC Co- Conference Chairman Tony Baraka, “We have re-branded the Southeast Urban Music Conference to the SUMC Urban Radio & Music Conference the move reflects the direction on where we want the SUMC brand to be heading.”
Baraka added, “black radio is where it all started for me many years ago. As I looked around there is not a Conference in the Southeast that speaks to the needs of Urban Radio and all of its changes and I just felt it was time to try and bring DJ’s, Programmers, Major & Independent Labels, Taste Makers, Brand Executives and industry heads to network and Showcase artists and have power pack seminars to discuss what our Conference themed is titled “Urban Radio At The Cross Roads.”
Baraka stated that there will be awards given out at this year’s SUMC. “It’s important to recognize individuals who have contributed to the industry. The honorees range from Radio to Label Executives and others who have shaped not only what we do, but who have given so much to the music industry. We have some great workshops and seminars as well as SUMC Entertainment Marketplace (booths) area setup and Branded Sponsored Lounges for attendees. I feel very blessed to be doing this for 10 years and working with a great network of people to produce a first class event.”
The SUMC Urban Radio & Music Conference has also teamed up with National Black Programmers Coalition Atlanta Chapter a special SUMC Registration rate has been created for NBPC Atlanta the organization would receive a portion of the funds that would go toward created scholarships for students who are Broadcasting/Communications majors at Fort Valley State University.
