On-Air Talent Releases Four Book Series About The Urban Radio Industry

Bookcover, styled after the Ohio Players 1974 album “Skin Tight”Atlanta, GA (September 27, 2011) — On Tuesday October 4, 2011, a new book entitled Sex Time And Radio Vol. 1 & 2: Blueprint of a Radio Star will be released as part of a 5 volume, 4 book series that serves as an All Access VIP pass through the world of Black radio in the ’90s & 2000s.

The author of the series is Marcus Chapman; a music historian and on-air personality known as “MC Marcus Chapman” who worked at WGCI-FM in Chicago, KKDA-FM in Dallas, WTLC-FM in Indianapolis, and was heard on WVEE-FM in Atlanta.

Chapman also came close to making stops at Radio Stations in New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Philadelphia, Washington DC, and North Carolina. The Sex Time And Radio book series lets the reader experience the lifestyle of a hip-hop and R&on-air personality first-hand.

It contains encounters with celebrities like Beyonce, Dr. Dre, Aaliyah, Michael Jordan, James Brown, Chris Brown, Janet Jackson, Luther Vandross, Vivica A. Fox, LL Cool J, Erykah Badu, George Clinton, and many more.

It takes the reader from being on stage at clubs to being backstage at concerts. It includes backstabbing coworkers, closed door meetings, battles with Radio Station management, battles with personal demons, and sexual escapades with some of the hottest women in America.

But the books also delve into the deeper psychological reasons and life experiences that affect the male sex drive, particularly males in the spotlight, and tackle unspoken reasons for the continuous rise of HIV and AIDS cases in the Black community.

The first book in the series, Sex Time And Radio Vol. 1 & 2: Blueprint of a Radio Star, deals with the path that would lead a person into becoming a star professional on-air personality. It contains a vast amount of music knowledge, including excellent chapters about the growth of hip-hop from its first days on record in 1979 to the peak of its golden era in 1988 (“The Cool Scholar of New York“); the Afrocentric/conscious rap movement and New Jack Swing of the late ‘80s & early ’90s (“Rebirth and Death”); the Chicago House music scene of the mid-‘80s (“House Party“), ’70s jazz (“OutKast”), James Brown (“Sacrifice of a Sex Machine”), Parliament-Funkadelic (“The Outer Space-Underwater Radio Band”), and the dominance of West Coast rap in the early to mid-’90s (“The New P-Funk“).

Starting out in college radio, interning at #1 professional Radio Station s, early influences on the male sex drive, and the impact of sports teams like the 1985 Chicago Bears and the Chicago Bulls of the 1990s are also covered in this first book (a list of subjects contained in the Vol. 1 & 2 index can be found at https://mcmarcuschapman.blogspot.com).

The remaining books in the Sex Time And Radio series will deal with the rise to stardom in professional radio (Vol. 3: The Cult of Personality, due Dec. 2011), the challenges of working in radio away from home (Vol. 4: On the Industry Map, due Feb. 2012) and the changes that led to the current state of the radio industry (Vol. 5: Communication Breakdown, due May 2012). Each book will also feature a cover styled after the legendary Ohio Players album covers of the 1970s.
